Sustainable Aquaculture Built on a Circular Ecosystem

At Lake Kariba, we grow Tilapia using a closed-loop growing system that transforms organic waste into high-quality feed, recycles water through aquaponics, and returns fresh fish and vegetables back to the community. Nothing wasted — everything renewed.

Closed-Loop Aquaculture

Our Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) recycles water, controls temperature, and maintains optimal growing conditions year-round—producing healthy fish with no discharge of waste into the environment.

Natural Protein Production

Organic waste and Water Hyacinth are converted into protein by Black Soldier Fly Larve, creating a sustainable, high-quality protein source by cleaning up organic waste in the community and the industry.

Aquaponics & Zero Waste

Nutrient-rich Bream water is used to grow fresh organic vegetables, closing the cycle and ensuring nothing goes to waste or pollutes the environment—supporting local manufacturing and food security of the community.

About Us

Zambezia Aquaculture is a sustainable fish farm on Lake Kariba using a fully closed-loop Recirculating Aquaculture System. We convert organic waste and water hyacinth into Black Soldier Fly protein to naturally feed our Bream. Nutrient-rich waste water is reused in aquaponics to grow fresh vegetables, creating a zero-waste cycle. Our mission is to produce healthy fish while protecting the environment and supporting the local community.

Cycle

Our Sustainable Cycle

At Zambezi Aquaculture, every step is part of a carefully designed cycle. Organic waste and invasive water hyacinths are converted into protein through black soldier fly larvae. This protein feeds our fish, whose nutrient-rich water nourishes plants in our aquaponics system. The result: fresh fish, vegetables and organic fertilizer returned to communities and tourism, completing a zero-waste cycle.
